Independent research and design realized in the form of a project presentation and a publishable document of potential value to the profession of museum exhibition planning and design. It is anticipated that the project presentation will take the form of models, graphics, digital drawings, hand drawings, or other presentation media.

Thesis development should directly support the student's career objectives and interests. Development of the Masters Thesis is supervised by the program director and a committee comprised of faculty and outside professional advisors with expertise in the subject area of the project. A formal agreement with the student is negotiated at the end of the second semester in the program to establish the scope and requirements of the thesis.
