A studio course focusing on the museum graphic environment. The phenomena of perception, legibility, color, scale, and lighting as they affect form and imagery in three-dimensional environments will be introduced. The student will explore writing, graphic design, the use of imagery and typography, and production of the graphic communications components of exhibitions and interpretive environments. In the second semester, students will address the technical and aesthetic requirements of lighting the museum environment.

The course provides the student with an introduction to the issues, skills and practices related to the design and production of communication components in a three-dimensional context. Alternative sensory input will be explored (the use of sound, smell, and touch components).
